Pogba Signs with Monaco After Doping Suspension

Paul Pogba has officially joined AS Monaco on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 club announced Saturday. The 32-year-old French midfielder aims to revitalize his career after serving a doping ban.

A source revealed to ESPN that Pogba, who inked a two-year contract with Monaco, declined a substantial offer from a Saudi Pro League team.

The World Cup-winning midfielder's most recent competitive appearance was in September 2023 for Juventus.

In February 2024, Pogba received a four-year doping ban after testing positive for DHEA, a substance known to elevate testosterone levels. However, the suspension was reduced to 18 months following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Juventus, the Italian club, revealed in November that they had mutually agreed to end his contract, initially set to expire in June 2026.

Pogba had been previously rumored to be considering moves to MLS and the Saudi Pro League. He will now make his return to competitive play in France.

Although Pogba progressed through the academy at Le Havre, he has not played professionally in France. His club career has been divided between periods at Manchester United and Juventus.
