The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations capitalizing on the format's popularity.
According to Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, the decision has been finalized. However, the association is still working out key details, including finding an appropriate window in the cricket calendar and determining the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues have become vital platforms for identifying and nurturing talent for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have successfully provided opportunities for local players to showcase their skills and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
