Elon Musk's social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, has taken decisive action by banning over 500,000 accounts in India. According to reports from Reuters, these accounts were found to be in violation of the platform's policies between January 26 and February 25.

The violations included promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity, leading to the banning of 506,173 accounts. Furthermore, X suspended 1,982 accounts for promoting terrorism.

In total, X has banned 508,155 accounts in India during this period. The platform also received 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its grievance redressal mechanisms and addressed 41 requests regarding account suspensions.

X stated, "We overturned 1 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended." The company also addressed 71 requests related to general inquiries about accounts.

This action is consistent with X's ongoing efforts to enforce its policies. From December 26 to January 25, X banned approximately 231,215 accounts in India and 1,945 accounts for promoting terrorism.
