ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, experienced a widespread outage affecting users globally. Reports surfaced on Downdetector, a website tracking service disruptions, indicating that many users were unable to access OpenAI's chatbot.
According to initial reports, approximately 91% of users encountered issues while trying to use ChatGPT. Around 7% reported being unable to access the website, while the remaining users faced difficulties logging into their ChatGPT accounts.
Users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences and report the ongoing outage.
OpenAI has acknowledged the outage and provided an update on the situation.
OpenAI's official status page confirmed the issues, citing "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs." The company has since announced that the service has been restored and is now operating normally.
The official OpenAI Status page states, "Performance is now back to normal," indicating that the latency issues have been resolved.
The TOI Tech team independently verified the restoration of ChatGPT, confirming that it is functioning properly on both the web and mobile app platforms without any apparent issues.
