Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne picked up a hat-trick to help Redlands win the KFC T20 Max Final against Valleys on Saturday, September 6. Labuschagne picked up the last two wickets to fall in the second innings to guide Redlands to a 41-run victory in the summit clash. The wrist spinner came on to bowl the 15th over of the innings and managed to find the outside edge of Tighe Morris, which was caught sharply by wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson.
He further returned in the 18th over and managed to get Cameron Boyce holed out in the deep as the batter hit a full toss straight to Lachlan Bangs at deep square leg. Having scalped two wickets in two balls, Labuschagne cleaned up Tom Hallion’s stumps to complete his hat-trick and set up a memorable win for his team. He finished the match with figures of 3/13 in 2.2 overs as Valley got bundled out for 150, chasing 192.

Earlier, Labuschagne scored 16 (10) with the bat as he hit three fours in his innings. Wicketkeeper batter Jimmy Pierson scored a sensational 102* (50) with the help of ten fours and five sixes to help his team post a massive score of 191/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Meanwhile, Labuschagne is willing to open the innings in Tests for Australia to earn a place in the upcoming Ashes series. The 30-year-old batter opened for the first time in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025 but failed miserably. He was eventually dropped for the first time in his career during the following series against the West Indies.
Labuschagne hasn’t been in the best of forms since 2023, having scored 1364 runs at an average of 31 with one hundred and ten fifties. Hence, his place has been in question over the past few years, further raising doubts on his Ashes selection.
