Vir Das, the celebrated stand-up comedian and actor, known for his wit and honest opinions, has shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan's latest film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. The movie, a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions', features disabled children alongside Aamir Khan and Genelia D'souza Deshmukh.
Das expressed his admiration for the film, highlighting its lightheartedness and the ensemble cast's heartwarming performance. He lauded Aamir Khan for using his platform to promote meaningful content and appreciated the film's departure from typical action-heavy productions.
In his review, Vir Das wrote: "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar. Not just because it’s REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it’s someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it’s a departure from the action overload. But also because it’s genuinely funny. In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That’s basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn’t. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now."
Despite predictions of a single-digit opening, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' exceeded expectations, earning approximately Rs 11.7 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. This success is attributed to positive word-of-mouth, suggesting potential growth in viewership over the weekend.
