Rohit Sharma Celebrates 18 Years in International Cricket with Emotional Post
Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma recently marked his 18th year in international cricket with a heartfelt Instagram Story. The right-handed batsman made his debut for India on June 23, 2007, against Ireland in Belfast.
In his Instagram Story, Sharma expressed his gratitude, writing, "Forever grateful 23.06.07," referencing his debut date. In that match, Rohit didn't have the opportunity to bat as India secured a dominant nine-wicket victory.
Since then, Rohit Sharma has become a crucial player for the Indian cricket team. He has led the team to numerous achievements, including the 2024 T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy earlier in the year.
The 38-year-old has retired from Tests and T20Is, having played 67 Test matches and 159 T20I matches. He accumulated 4301 Test runs, featuring 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries, with an average of 40.57.
His performance in white-ball cricket has been even more impressive. In 159 T20I matches, he has scored 4231 runs, including five centuries and 32 fifties. In 273 ODIs, he has amassed 11,168 runs, including 32 centuries and 58 fifties, averaging an impressive 48.76.
Rohit, who retired from Test cricket last month, is currently not participating in India's tour of England. His next potential appearance could be in the series against Bangladesh in August.
